Capitol Hill Rear Addition, 15th Street
The young couple desired a rear addition for their future family. A small one story structure was torn down and replaced with a two story addition at the rear of the row house. The first floor of the addition houses a family room with French doors leading to a rear deck. A powder room, coat closet, and broom closet were incorporated as well. The existing kitchen was extended about three feet on one side, which created space for a wine cooler, a desk, and glass cabinets. The second floor of the addition is a master bedroom with a walk-in closet and skylights. The existing formal living room was renovated with wood wainscoting, crown molding, and a new stair railing. The wall between the living and the entry hall was removed to allow for a more open space. Photographs by Corbin Mullinix.
